Given the choice, almost everyone would probably prefer to keep their own natural teeth. And most dentists agree. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible. For whatever reason, some people lose their teeth or need to have them extracted. For those individuals, dentures can change their lives for the better in so many ways. At Bulverde North Family Dental, we are pleased to offer dentures to our patients from throughout the Bulverde, Spring Branch, Timberwood Park, Canyon Lake, San Antonio and San Marcos, TX areas.

Are Dentures Right for You?
If you’re missing some of your teeth, or if you face the prospect of having to have your teeth extracted, dentures may be a great choice for you. Generally speaking, dentures come in two varieties: partials (for people who are missing just a few teeth) and full sets (for people who have no teeth at all). Missing just a few teeth can take away many joys in life – from speaking normally to eating certain foods and more. Fortunately, dentures can resolve many of the issues faced by people who are missing teeth.
The Procedure Involved in Getting New Dentures
One of the first steps in the process involves having an impression made of your existing teeth. This will allow dental technicians to create a set of partial or full dentures that will fit you well and feel as close to your natural teeth as possible. After that, your dentist will begin to extract your teeth (if extractions are necessary), a few at a time, allowing time for your gums to heal between visits to the dentist’s office. Once all extractions are complete and your gums have healed sufficiently, your dentist will fit you with your new set of dentures, making sure that they fit as snugly and as comfortably as possible.
Your new set of dentures will be extremely durable. They should last for many, many years, although they will most likely need to be adjusted at some point in the future.
