Some dental patients may cringe at the mere mention of “root canals.” But the fact is that root canals are quite common, and should not be any more intimidating than any other dental procedure. Your dentist may recommend a root canal when a tooth becomes so badly decayed that the pulp becomes infected. At Bulverde North Family Dental, we offer root canals to our patients from throughout the Bulverde, Spring Branch, Timberwood Park, Canyon Lake, San Antonio, and San Marcos, TX areas.
Top Reasons to Visit Bulverde North Family Dental for Root Canals
Dr. Frei has years of experience in performing root canals for their patients
It’s always preferable to save a natural tooth whenever possible, and root canals are an effective way to do just that
Teeth that require root canals can often be very painful, but a root canal procedure can eliminate all the uncomfortable symptoms associated with a badly decayed tooth and infected pulp
How to Know if a Root Canal is Right for You
Once in a while, it’s possible that you may need a root canal and not experience any symptoms whatsoever. But the vast majority of the time, patients who require root canals will have one of more of the following:
An extremely painful toothache that worsens when pressure is applied on the tooth
A tooth that is discolored
Gums that are swollen and/or painful around a certain tooth
One or more teeth that are sensitive to hot and/or cold foods and drinks
The Root Canal Procedure
Root canals usually require two trips to our Spring Branch office. During the course of those visits, your dentist will remove decay from the tooth, remove the nerve and pulp from the tooth, thoroughly clean the tooth and seal it off. Your dentist may also recommend that a crown be placed over the tooth. Either way, your tooth will typically be fully functional after a root canal procedure.
